It's official... analogue synths are well and truly making a comeback. Let's face it: who can resist that unmistakable warm sound that only a true analogue instrument will give you? However, what happens if you crave that analogue sound but you're on a really tight budget? Like less than £300? Well, Arturia have just announced a smaller version of their popular MiniBrute and with a sub £260 price tag, we're expecting it's going to prove very popular...
The original Arturia MiniBrute is famed for having an aggressive, in-your-face analogue character, which is helped by its unique Brute Factor and Metalizer features. The MicroBrute has exactly the same sound engine as the MiniBrute and while it still features plenty of hands-on controls, it is presented in a smaller format with mini keys. If you're after big bass then you'll be pleased to hear about Overtone, the new sub oscillator on the MicroBrute. As you would expect, this creates a square wave at one octave below the root pitch in order to add depth to your sound. However, that's not all because the Overtone feature also provides you with harmonic control that increases the upper overtones up to a full 5th above the root oscillator, giving the perception of having two oscillators. By modulating the Overtone feature, you'll be able to create super thick, unique bass sounds that may in fact blow your face off! You have been warned! :P
Just like the MiniBrute, the MicroBrute provides you with that gorgeous Steiner-Parker filter, with low-, band- and high-pass modes. The MicroBrute also provides you with a hefty modulation matrix, USB 2.0 MIDI (so there is no need for an additional MIDI interface) and a built-in step sequencer! Remember, this is all for less than £260!
