A big thank you to everyone that came and supported the Wimborne Guitar Festival over the weekend; it was great to see people enjoying the music and the atmosphere. Live music performances were held throughout the day. Hundreds of people from around the district came down for a weekend full of guitar shenanigans.
Fender Jaguar Competition winner announced!
We had over 200 entries to win this beautiful Fender Modern Player Jaguar electric guitar in a stunning black transparent finish, but I'm afraid there can only be one winner... and the person pulled out of the hat to win was Rachel Robbins! Huge congratulations! Enjoy the guitar!
The Festival
Our guitar experts here at Absolute Music exhibited a room full of guitars and pedals. One of our favourite pedals went down a storm during the festival, the Electro Harmonix B9 Pedal, designed to make your guitar sound like a vintage organ.
Lots of exhibitors came down to support the festival with us including Vox, Shure, Roland, Blackstar and Focusrite. A big thank you goes out to all of you, it made for a varied and interesting show! Road Kill Cabs deserve a notable mention too, offering affordable custom cabs hand-made and built in Dorset, and AeroGraffiti were there with a display of their custom paintshop designs – a great way to get a personalised instrument with a truly professional finish.
Drew from Blackstar came armed with a pile of amplifiers from across their range, and surprised many festival-goers with Blackstar’s versatility and cutting edge technology, while Roland brought their arsenal of BOSS effects and Roland guitar synthesizers.
Workshops and performances were in abundance, with Focusrite’s “how to record guitars” demonstrations, and Pete Rinaldi from VOX demonstrating their range of amplifiers. Another of the workshops that caught our eye during the day was Melvyn Hiscock who has been building guitars for 30 years. Melvyn hosted guitar building workshops, inspiring many to get out their tools and build their own electric guitar.
All in all, it was a great day, and it was fantastic to see so many people sharing our passion of guitars. Here’s looking forward to an even bigger and better Guitar Festival next year!
