Win a session in Capitol Studios and lots of swag with Shure

There isn’t much that’s higher on the universal wish-list of unsigned bands than getting a chance to fly to Hollywood and record in Capitol Studios with legendary producer and engineer Al Schmitt. All this and more is within easy grasp thanks to a new competition from Shure.

Shure’s newest band competition encourages you to get out and about to film a music video in an unusual place... So filming on top of a cliff, looking all windswept and moody isn’t going to cut it this time.

This contest aims to encourage high-quality mobile recording done in unusual places, so to enter you’ll need to make a video of an original song performed in a novel location. Think telephone boxes, think dinosaur museum, think dentist waiting room... Follow your music where it takes you. Just remember: Country music isn’t just for the countryside and doom metal doesn’t have to be done in a dungeon. Originality counts. As long as you’re recording somewhere safe and legal, the only limitation is your imagination.

Once you’ve filmed it, just submit it to the competition’s dedicated website and get all your fans/family/friends to vote for you. Submitted videos need at least 50 votes to be considered for one of 20 spots on the shortlist, which will be determined by Shure. One entry receiving the most votes overall wins a wild card spot to stay in the hunt.

In the second stage of the competition, all shortlisted acts get sent a box of Shure MOTIV goodies to create their very own MOTIV Session. The increasingly popular mobile music video series uses Shure MOTIV mics to record well-known and up-and-coming artists in special locations.

Grammy-nominated US singer-songwriter Tori Kelly will pick the ultimate winner of the final round. The grand prize winners will receive a trip to Los Angeles, a professional recording session at Capitol Studios in Hollywood and \$5,000 of Shure gear. Second place will get Shure equipment to the value of \$3,000 and the act in third place will get a rather tasty package of Shure equipment worth \$1,000.
