FOCUSRITE SCARLETT 18i20 ANNOUNCED

Yet another announcement from the Focusrite camp and another addition to their steadily growing Scarlett range of high-quality USB 2.0 interfaces. The Scarlett 18i20 is designed to sit at the heart of a modern recording studio and as such it features enough inputs and outputs to record and mix a full band! In fact, the 18i20 offers a total of 18 potential inputs and 20 potential outputs, which include 2 analogue mic/line/instrument inputs, 6 analogue mic/line inputs and 10 analogue line outputs!
The Scarlett 18i20 is essentially a USB 2.0 version of Focusrite's highly-popular Saffire Pro 40 Firewire interface, which gives anyone the chance to own a great sounding, high I/O, rackmount interface for a great price, no matter whether you're running a Mac or PC.
The Scarlett 18i20 features no less than 8 of Focusrite's award-winning preamps with switchable phantom power, which play a huge part in Focusrite's success. After all, you would be extremely hard-pushed to find better mic preamps for such a competitive price - we've certainly not found any! Add to this the high-quality 24-bit/96kHz converters of the 18i20 and you'd be mad not to consider it if you're after an interface with lots of I/O on a budget!

To take full advantage of the Scarlett 18i20's inputs and outputs, you can make use of its additional 8 channels of digital I/O via ADAT and S/PDIF. It also features two independent headphone stereo outputs, which is a must if both you and a performer need to monitor certain parts of a mix through headphones.
And wait a second, we've not even mentioned the software yet either! The Scarlett 18i20 comes bundled with a whole host of it, including Ableton Live Lite music production software, the Focusrite Scarlett plug-in bundle, the Novation Bass Station soft synth and over 1GB of royalty-free Loopmasters samples.
The Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 will be introduced in March this year (2013) and will retail for around £400.
