Røde have just announced a new worldwide band competition called 'Røde Rocks'! The top prize includes a 'flights and expenses paid' three day recording session at Record Planet in Hollywood with renowned producer Alain Johannes, and there are also some amazing runner-up prizes, including Event monitors and Røde microphone packages. Read on to find out how to enter...
The Røde Rocks competition has been set-up to showcase the best in independent, unsigned talent around the world. To enter, artists need to record an original composition of more than 2 minutes in length and create an accompanying video that features at least one Røde microphone.
You then need to upload your video to Youtube, visit www.roderocks.com and submit your details along with the link to your video. At the end of June 2012, a panel of guest judges will select their 10 favourites and those videos will be uploaded onto the Røde website for two weeks. During this time, the public will be able to vote for their favourite performance, and the video with the most votes will be crowned the winner!
First prize winners will receive return flights to Los Angeles, California to record at the famous Record Plant studios in Hollywood, with superstar producer Alain Johannes. Providing additional production and engineering support during the recording session will be John Merchant and Grammy Award winner Francis Buckley. Additionally, the winning artist(s) will receive vocal training throughout the sessions from SLS certified instructor Robert ‘RAab’ Stevenson. The resulting recording will be professionally mixed and mastered, and provided to the winning artist to release as they see fit.
Second and third prize winners will each receive a studio prize pack consisting of a number of studio and live performance microphones and studio monitors from Event, totalling over US\$15,000 in value.
