Today, Roland have announced that they will be releasing a new workstation range, consisting of the 61-note semi-weighted FA-06 and the FA-08, with an 88-note Ivory Feel-G keyboard. In fact, we were joined by Gareth from Roland just yesterday, who brought along an FA-06 to demo its features. Check it out in the video below!

The FA series packs in a shed-load of features for a fantastic price, whilst also providing a design that contributes towards a quick, streamlined workflow. Plus, they also sound fantastic, coming with a huge sound collection, inherited from Roland's Integra-7 SuperNATURAL sound module. They also come with loads of built-in effects for refining your sounds.
Both the FA-06 and FA-08 are designed to sit at the heart of a modern studio. As well as their impressive range of sounds, they also feature onboard sampling. Sampling is mainly controlled using the 16 backlit pads of the keyboard and chopping up a sound is extremely quick and intuitive, as demonstrated by Gareth in the video above.
FA workstations also feature a built-in 16-track sequencer with non-stop loop recording, which makes it easy to build up whole tracks using just your keyboard. Refreshingly, you can even export your tracks as a stereo mix, as multitrack stems or as MIDI data, for performing further refinements in your DAW.
Speaking of DAWs, both FA workstations also double up as DAW controllers when connected to your computer via USB. This is extremely easy to set up, requiring the simple press of a button and the selection of your particular DAW from the FA workstation menu. Once done, the controls of the FA-06 or FA-08 will automatically take control of dedicated parameters in your software. Please note that although FA workstations are compatible with most big name DAWs, you should check compatibility before purchasing if planning on using the keyboard in this way.
