MACKIE ANNOUNCE DL806 IPAD LIVE MIXER

Following on from the success of Mackie's DL1608 mixer, which makes use of an iPad, allowing you to perform live mix adjustments from anywhere in a venue, Mackie have announced that they will be releasing a smaller version, working on the same principle. The new Mackie DL806 is essentially an 8-channel DL1608 (the DL1608 is a 16-channel mixer). Featuring 8 Onyx mic preamps and high-end Cirrus Logic converters, the DL806 is a device for anyone that demands top quality audio but does not need the additional channels of the DL1608.
The Mackie DL806 features 4 aux sends for monitor mixes, alongside master Left and Right outputs. It works alongside the powerful (and freely downloadable) Mackie Master Fader app, which equips you with a choice of professional plug-ins, all of which can be controlled using the touchscreen of your iPad. Add EQ, compression, gate, reverb, delay, etc. and tweak them all with unrivalled detail!
As we have already mentioned, aside from harnessing the touchscreen capabilities of the iPad, working in this way allows you to make tweaks from anywhere in the venue, freeing you from the traditional confines of the mixing booth. For example, you can wander around the venue and pick out frequency problems in certain areas and then sort them out there and then. There's no need to trust someone else's ears whilst you sit in the mixing booth making adjustments. This functionality is also fantastic if you're a band that does all your own mixing as you can make adjustments on-stage, even if you're in the middle of a song!
