DAVE SMITH INSTRUMENTS UNLEASH THE MIGHTY PROPHET 12 SYNTH

Well, us synth-heads have been treated at NAMM 2013 so far haven't we, what with the announcement of the Korg MS-20 mini, the KingKORG, and now, and arguably most exciting of them all, Dave Smith Instruments have announced that they will be releasing the Prophet 12! In fact, Dave Smith proclaims that the Prophet 12 is his 'best synth yet'! Anyone else's knees shaking with excitement?

As the name suggests, the Prophet 12 features 12 voices, which is more than any other Dave Smith synth before it. Even more exciting is the fact that each voice of the Prophet 12 features four oscillators and a sub-oscillator! In addition, this analogue monster features resonant analogue low- and high- pass filters and analogue VCAs.

Of course, the Prophet 12 can produce a load of classic and complex waveforms, but it also throws in an exciting new 'Character' section, which furthers your sound shaping options. This section allows you to sculpt your sounds in new ways by adding sonic characteristics such as Drive, Hack, Decimation, Girth and Air. Sounds like distortion algorithms to us! We can't wait to hear what they sound like!

On top of this the Prophet 12 has a tuned feedback path, four-tap stereo delay per voice, expanded arpeggiation features, complex modulation options and bi-timbral operation. The LFOs, delay and arpeggiator can also all be synced to either the internal clock or an external MIDI clock.

As well as traditional pitch and modulation wheels, the Dave Smith Instruments Prophet 12 also features programmable position and pressure sensitive touch sliders (taken from Tempest analogue drum machine), which allow you to control your sounds and performance with more detail than ever before.
