BITWIG STUDIO - BRAND NEW DAW
Posted on Wed 18 July 2012 in General News
A new DAW, Bitwig Studio, is on its way! Bitwig Studio claims to give you a more natural way of working, offering a super fast workflow, and from looking at its specs, it certainly seems to have some useful features. It even has an Ableton-esque working view for digital DJs!
You can click here to read the full specs, but here are a few of our favourites:
• Hybrid tracks: place audio and MIDI on the same track!
• Clip automation: store automation inside individual clips.
• Per-note automation: the current version of Cubase offers a version of this for compatible plug-in instruments, but Bitwig seems to have taken it a step further. Does exactly what it says on the tin - allows you to draw in different automation patterns per MIDI note, even in a chord!
• Multiple audio events per clip: store multiple audio events within one clip, making it easier to move about groups of audio events.
• Metadata-based browser: tag all your samples to make them easier to find!
• Multi-user jamming and production: Jam over LAN and record input from all participants on the same project! Or, collaborate with users all over the world on the same project over the internet - these features are scheduled for after the version 1.0 release.
• Native modular design: design your own instruments and effects or edit existing ones, in much the same way as you do with Native Instruments' Reaktor - very cool if you want to create unique instruments and effects! This feature is also scheduled for after the version 1.0 release.
Bitwig Studio definitely has some fantastic unique features, but only time will tell how popular it prooves. Feel free to leave comments below to let us know what you think! Tempted to change your DAW?
