The XB-10 is a compact broadcast mixer, which is ideal for small radio or internet broadcast studios. The ICE-16 is a 16-channel multi-track recorder that also doubles up as a Firewire and USB interface.

So, let's start by discussing the XB-10 in a little more detail. Despite being small, it is packed with a host of specialised broadcast features including a telephone communication channel, mic channel ON switch sensing, stereo channel start/cue outputs for CD deck transport control and automatic muting of speaker outputs. The XB-10 also allows you to create a separate monitor mix for guest presenters and it features a handy 'Talk' button that allows the presenter to chat off air.

The Allen & Heath ICE-16 is a 16x16 unit, designed to make multi-track recording easy by allowing you to record directly to a USB stick or hard drive. This makes it an easy-to-set-up solution, ideal for recording in a number of different situations. Plus, it also doubles up as an audio interface with 16 analogue inputs and 16 analogue outputs!
