Our friendly neighborhood microphone maker down the road, Sontronics has just sent us details of their newest addition, the Mercury and it looks as though they have hit it with all guns blazing.

The new Sontronics Mercury is a valve condenser microphone with a continuously variable polar pattern from omnidirectional to figure-of-eight and everything in between. It has been lovingly crafted right here in the UK with top-grade components (including a hand-selected ECC87/12AT7 valve) and beta tested by engineers from Abbey Road Studios. The Mercury boasts pad (0, -10dB) and filter (linear, 75Hz) switches and being a Sontronics valve mic, it has a classic vintage sound with low self noise.

As with most Sontronics microphones, the Mercury is supplied with shockmount, power supply and flightcase. It is also covered by the Sontronics lifetime warranty.

The Sontronics reputation has been spreading far and wide in the last 12 years, and that’s because those guys (who are also based down here in Poole, Dorset) know how to make a really good microphone and their list of endorsees reads like a who’s-who of music production.

We have been told that we can expect stock of these beautiful microphones in February, so keep an eye out for further announcements!
