This one’s for the shredders...We have just got two new Jackson Pro Series guitars in stock and we couldn’t resist plugging them in and getting loud!
Jackson guitars often cause a bit of a stir when they arrive and never fail to get the staff talking about their striking shapes and finishes. The two new Jackson Pro Series guitars that we have just got on the wall are no different.
First off is the Jackson Pro Series Soloist SL2Q MAH, in what they call ‘Alien Burst’ finish. As with most Jackson Pro-Series guitars, this one has a 12”-16” compound radius fingerboard, which means that rather than being consistent all the way down the neck, it is more curved by the nut (suiting chord playing) and gets flatter the closer you get to the heel, making it ideal for fast playing and bending notes. In terms of on-board electronics, the SL2Q MAH has a Seymour Duncan TB-6 Distortion humbucker at the bridge and a Seymour Duncan SH-6N Distortion humbucker at the neck, both of which are designed for high output and snarling distortion. Flick between the two with the standard three-position pickup switch which sits alongside the master tone and master volume pots.
Players of the Jackson Pro Series Soloist SL2Q MAH will be able to do crazy dive bombs with the Floyd Rose FRT-O2000 double-locking tremolo bridge, while keeping perfectly in tune thanks to the matched R3 locking nut. Another feature of the Jackson Pro Series guitars that is present in the SL2Q MAH is the neck-through-body construction and graphite neck reinforcement rods that provide extra sustain and stability.
Next up is the Jackson Pro Series Rhoads RRT, which is based on the Jackson Concorde guitar used by Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot guitarist Randy Rhoads. This is a very special guitar indeed and even the staff members that aren’t usually Jackson fans admit to liking this one, thanks to its classy Ivory finish with black pinstriping and gold hardware. The Rhoads RRT has the same compound-radius fretboard and through-body neck as the Soloist mentioned above but has different pickups. The Rhoads RRT includes Seymour Duncan JB SH4 (bridge) and Jazz SH2N (neck) humbucking pickups, three-way toggle pickup switching and an adjustable Jackson Hi-Mass hard-tail string-through-body bridge and tailpiece.
The Jackson Pro Series Rhoads RRT boasts a mahogany body that’s been finished in gloss polyurethane, a 1-piece maple neck with graphite reinforcement and oiled natural finish, as well as pearloid sharkfin inlay markers. We said it before and we’ll say it again, this is a very special guitar and definitely deserves to be played through a huge stack of amps with the volume absolutely cranked up.
Both of these Jackson Pro Series guitars, along with many other Jackson guitars, are available to try in store or buy online at the best prices in the UK.
