Dorico – the New Notation Software from Steinberg

For many years there were primarily just one or two major players in the notation software category. With Steinberg’s many years of expertise, and a whole lot of R&D, a new notation platform has been born. Meet Steinberg Dorico, the Advanced Music Notation System.

Dorico is set to redefine the standard in scoring software. Steiberg Dorico – How to Buy:

Dorico is available as both retail and education versions, where education pricing is available to eligible customers, including students, teachers and institutes.

There are also retail and education ‘crossgrade’ versions, that offer a discount for customers who already own a competing product, ie. those that hold a license of a full version (EDU or retail) of Sibelius or Finale. Proof of ownership is required to be eligible for a crossgrade version.

Education volume discounts are also available:

5-9 licenses: 15% off
10-14 licenses: 20% off
25+ licenses: 25% off

Volume discounts can also be offered on crossgrades, so if you are an institution that already owns multiple licenses of either Sibelius, Notion or Finale, then you should take advantage of this, making the cost of moving over to Dorico quite affordable.

Software authorisation:

Dorico can use either a ‘Soft-eLicenser’ which allows the software to be activated on a single computer, or alternatively the license can be transferred to a USB-eLicenser that can be moved from computer to computer.

System requirements:

64-bit Windows 10, Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan or macOS 12 Sierra.
Intel or AMD dual core CPU. 8 GB RAM recommended (4 GB minimum).
12 GB free storage space.
Display resolution of 1,920 x 1,280 or greater recommended (1,366 x 768 minimum).
DVD-ROM drive for software installation using included optical media.
OS-compatible audio hardware.
Internet connection required for activation, account setup and personal product registration.
Additional downloads will be required for installation.
