The Novation Ultranova comes rammed with 300 onboard sounds, all of which are available via the quick and easy patch-browse function. Simply choose what type of sound you want (arp, bell, classic, drum, keyboard, lead, movement, pad, poly, sfx, string, bass, extinput, vocoder), and then narrow down your search by navigating to a specific genre bank (Classic, D+B/Brk, House, R+B/HHop, Jazz, Indust, Rock/Pop, Techno, Dub Step), or vice versa. Still can’t quite find what you’re after? Use the 8 encoders (dials) to tweak existing patches and find that killer sound thats perfect for your project.

And once you’ve found that sound? Save it to one of 200 patch spaces contained within the Novation Ultranova, ready to be recalled at will. And if you find that you’ve gone psycho for sound-design and filled up all 200 spaces, you can use the included software patch librarian to save even more presets and custom sort them by patch and genre. The Novation Ultranova really is catered towards quick, simple, and effective use.

SOUND DESIGN WITH THE NOVATION ULTRANOVA

Whether your new to synth programming or a hardened veteran, you will find the Novation Ultranova is a treat to work with. Each part of this impressive synth may be accessed with it’s own dedicated button, which instantly brings up all associated parameters in the cool blue LCD screen. To help shape your sound, the Novation Ultranova offers the choice of 14 conventional waveforms, 36 wavetables, and up to 5 effect slots for each sound! Mix and match to your hearts content to get the perfect result!

The included software editor (compatible on both Mac and PC platforms) is also a handy little tool and helps you visualise what is happening with the edits you make – ideal if you are making a transition from software to hardware for the first time, or for ultra-precision editing.

With 3 oscillators, 2 ring modulators, and a noise generator, in combination with 3 LFOs, 6 envelope generators, 20 modulation slots (assignable to 66 different destinations), 14 filter types…..deep breath…..a 12 band vocoder (gooseneck mic included), and 33 arpeggiator patterns you really are spoiled when it comes to sound creation.

SIZE MATTERS

Found the right type of sound but need to fatten it up? No problem! The Density and Density-Detune functions on the Novation Ultranova are perfectly suited to this type of task, allowing you to quickly beef up those important bass or lead sounds.

NOVATION ULTRANOVA – MADE TO TOUCH

If you’ve ever used a hardware synthesiser before, you will know that the real fun comes in the form of all those exciting dials and faders, and the Novation Ultranova takes hands-on sculpting to a new level with the ingenious addition of the Touch mode. Activated by the press of a button, this intuitive new feature allows the user to access a number of envelope and sound-shaping destinations that are buried deep within the synth’s architecture, simply by touching the encoders! As well as being brilliantly fun, this feature can also be extremely useful.

Another notable feature of the Novation Ultranova, either for live performance, or simply just to speed up workflow, is the Tweak mode. As with most things on the Ultranova, one press of a button assigns the encoders to 8 of your favourite parameters, allowing you to perform your most used editing tasks with unrivaled efficiency.

NOVATION ULTRANOVA – THE AUDIO INTERFACE

In addition to all these features, the Ultranova comes with a built-in USB Audio interface, enabling you to get sound in and out of your computer wherever you may be! Also included are 2 inputs and 4 separate outputs, a SPDIF output (to get any digital recordings of the Ultranova straight into your DAW), plus standard MIDI in, out and thru ports. And there’s just time to tell you about one more worthwhile feature: the included Novation Automap software (which you may already be familiar with if you have previously used a Novation controller keyboard), which lets you control your plug-in instruments and effects using the Novation Ultranova interface.
