HERCULES STANDS

Named after the mere mortal who became a Greek god, Hercules stands could well be the best present you ever bought for your guitar...
Anyone who’s visited absolutemusic lately or attended a music show over the past few years will no doubt be familiar with the distinctive yellow and black of Hercules instrument stands. Compact and portable yet sturdy and reliable, these handy accessories are indispensable for stage, studio or showroom. Here we take a closer look…
Headstart for Hercules
Hercules was registered as a trademark back in 1995, when its founders were developing their own innovative technology for holding and supporting guitars and other instruments. However, it wasn’t until 2001 that the first Hercules products hit the streets, when the Auto Grip System (AGS) guitar stand went on sale in the US and was introduced to the rest of us at Frankfurt Musikmesse in 2002.
The stands were an immediate hit and the design team began to expand the range to include further versions of the basic stand as well as a series of wall hangers. Within a couple of years, the AGS stand was among the market leaders in just about every country it was sold in.
The guitar’s the star
Further guitar-related products soon followed, including smaller, more compact stands, all of which proved to be best sellers, thanks to the underlying technology that allowed for compact, small-footprint stands to still be sturdy and strong.
Realising that the same principles of innovative design and construction could be applied to other areas, Hercules began to introduce new products in the shape of music stands and mic stands, and the developments still continue today as Hercules releases new stands for brass, woodwind and orchestral instruments.
Travelling light
Not content with its standard range, Hercules has developed its unique ‘TravLite’ series. Designed to be strong and stable yet fully portable, many of the TravLite stands can actually be stored inside the instrument itself or in a handy carry bag that comes with the stand.
There’s also the new ‘ShokSafe’ range, ideal for stage use as the tilting posts are ergonomically designed to absorb those inevitable bumps and bangs while the low-rise tripod base makes the stand totally bottom heavy, so avoiding any chance of your guitar toppling over if your fancy Shadows-esque footwork gets a tad erratic!
The stand that thinks it's a Frisbee
One of our best-selling Hercules guitar stands is the iStand, available for electric guitar and bass (GS602B) or for acoustic guitar (GS601B). At first glance, you might mistake it for that favourite toy of the 1970s, but this is actually the ultimate in portability, as the stand folds down into a handy circle, less than an inch high.
Ideal for gigging musicians, the folded iStand can be slipped into a gig bag or glove compartment, and then in seconds can be transformed into a stand thanks to its two fold-out legs and upright padded support. Just don’t throw it into the crowd!
Travelling light
It might not be the most exciting buy in the world, but if you love your guitar, you need to treat it well, and that’s where Hercules comes in. He did become a god, after all.
