TC-Helicon has produced some incredible vocal processors with its VoiceTone line offering something for all musicians. The newest addition, Create XT, is a simple-to-use pedal with a clear display and controls but don’t let that simple fascia fool you, because what lies beneath is pure quality all the way…
Styles on speed dial
Simply dial in a style and preset to get the best effects and instantly hear the kind of vocal sound you get in hit records across the charts. Some of these effects include a front-of-house-quality reverb algorithm and the HardTune effect that you’ll recognise from artists like T-Pain and Kanye West.
You can select effects in different ways. Ten factory presets offer instant gratification and access to a wide range of effects that can be altered on the fly. Create XT offers no less than 100 styles with pre-programmed effect combinations as well as the ability to store your own presets. The results are incredible: anything from very subtle additions to insane but always usable effects.
One of the best things about the unit is that the styles are laid out by both effect type and style, which means that if you know what effect you want, you can simply dial that up, but if you are more at home with the style of effect – Pop, Rock, Jazz, Electronic and so on – simply choose that instead. It’s easy!
Real effects in real time
Alongside the effects, a Tone button helps add even more polish to vocals, so you can smooth them with adaptive Live Engineer Effects. Each of the preset effects is easily customisable in that you don’t need to enter complicated menus; just switch the dedicated effects blocks on or off. Even more control is to be had with the Selectable Tweak parameters that give you easy access to the important elements in the currently selected sound. So not only is Create XT packed with great sounds, but you can also easily change presets to suit your own vocal preferences.
Finally a USB connector is included for software updates, tips and preset backup using the included VoiceSupport application, while an expression pedal input accepts the TC-Helicon Switch-3 three-button footswitch for more creative performances.
