NORD DRUM 2 ANNOUNCED ALONGSIDE PAD

Nord have just revealed a second generation model of their Nord Drum percussion synthesiser. The Nord Drum 2 has been designed for those that want to combine the playability of acoustic percussion with the sounds and synthesis options of a synth. The 6-channel Nord Drum 2 is capable of producing classic electro sounds, as well as realistic percussion hits. In addition to this, Nord have also announced the Nord Pad, which connects directly to the Nord Drum 2 with an Ethernet cable and allows you to trigger its sounds!

The Nord Drum 2 sound engine features Resonance modelling as well as Subtractive and FM-synthesis, for a wide-range of sound creation possibilities. It also has a Noise section and a High-, Low- and Band-Pass filter. Plus, if you want to dirty up your hits, the Nord Drum 2 features distortion and sample rate reduction effects that can be applied to each of its 6 channels individually.
Of course, just like the original, the Nord Drum 2 can also be played with other electronic trigger pads (via MIDI), which means that you can hook it up to a full electronic drum kit and play it in the traditional way if you desire. You can also control it with a MIDI sequencer, making it a great and unique addition to any studio. Its MIDI output also lets it function as a trigger-to-MIDI interface.
Both the Nord Drum 2 and Nord Pad are due to start shipping in May 2013.
