It's the return of the Focusrite Red Mic preamp - a legend of its kind! Just like the original Red Range, the 1 500 Series Mic Pre is a mono preamp that will be made in England and carries on the legacy started by the original Red Range, which was introduced in many of the world's top studios following its release in 1992. These products were famed for their amazing signature sound, which seemed to bring almost any instrument and microphone to life. It even features the same Lundahl LL1538 input transformer as the original Red 1 and Red 8 mic preamps, giving it that authentic, transparent character.
The new Red 1 500 is designed in the popular 'lunchbox' format, which makes it very compact and portable. With a gain of 66dB and a carefully chosen input impedance, the Red 1 500 Series Mic Pre will work and sound great with almost any mic, be it dynamic, condenser or ribbon. You can even monitor your levels via the built-in VU meter on the front - very nice!
The Focusrite Red 1 500 Series Mic Pre will be shipping in April this year (2013) and will retail for around £800.
