CUBASE 7 ANNOUNCED TODAY!

Today, Steinberg have announced a brand new update to their hugely popular Cubase DAW - introducing Cubase 7.
Cubase 7 improves on the previous 6.5 version by packing in more musical features, including an innovative Chord Track (more on this in a bit), advanced VariAudio (version 2), more instrument content and a brand new (and impressive-looking) MixConsole, plus a number of workflow improvements.
Let's start by taking a brief look at the MixConsole, which Steinberg claim sounds even better than their past versions of Cubase. This sleek looking update is fully-scalable, making it ideal for working on screens of any size and it places your most used features right where you need them so that they are quickly accessible. The MixConsole also allows for fast temporary and permanent linking of channels, as well as a drag-and-drop plug-in workflow.
One of the most exciting and unique additions to Cubase 7 is the global Chord Track, which makes it really easy to work with chords within your project. Now Cubase 7 can detect the harmonic structure of your song and feed it back to both MIDI and audio tracks processed with VariAudio (Steinberg's Melodyne-style technology). All tracks that you choose will then automatically mirror any harmonic adjustments made within the Chord Track! You can even change the chord structure of existing compositions to test out new ideas!
For creating chords you can either use your mouse or play them with a MIDI keyboard. You can also choose to generate them automatically using existing MIDI parts in your project. Or you can enter single notes and use VariAudio to turn them into chords!

And then there's also VariAudio 2.0, which of course is seamlessly integrated with the Chord Track. VariAudio technology allows you to alter the pitch and timings of individual notes within a single audio recording, which is perfect for correcting pitch and timing problems and for changing the feel of a recorded performance.
Cubase 7 also ships with even more content than before! The Halion Sonic SE sampler comes with 300 hybrid instrument sounds, from pianos to choirs, to strings and analogue/digital synths. Groove Agent One also features 30 new drum kits and 150 MIDI loop patterns and Cubase 7 also comes with thousands of melodic MIDI loops.
Oh, and we've not even mentioned VST Connect SE yet! This cool technology allows you to collaborate, record and produce with musicians in real-time over the internet. There's even a video link so that it's almost like you're sat together in the same room!
